If Jose Mesa is not suspended for at least ten games, Bud Selig should be fired. He hit Omar Vizquel with the first pitch he threw to him. Big deal? Well, it’s the third time in the past three years that Mesa has pitched to Vizquel, and he has hit him all three times. Oh, and here’s what Mesa said three years ago, after Vizquel’s book included some less-than-flattering things about him:
I will not forgive him. Even my little boy (Jose Jr.) told me to get him. If I face him 10 more times, I’ll hit him 10 times. I want to kill him.
Mesa should be suspended for ten games, and if he ever hits Vizquel with another pitch, he should be banned from baseball. The pitch he hit him with last night was right up around the letters, which is way too close to the head when you are talking about an intentional pitch from a guy who has actually expressed his desire to kill that specific batter.
Forget Barry Bonds — Jose Mesa should be public enemy number one right now. Bonds may be bad for baseball, but at least he has never tried to kill anyone. Mesa is a piece of trash.
